About Hurricane Buddy®

The idea behind Hurricane Buddy® was born as a result of the relentless hurricanes that battered Florida during the summer of 2004.  Many people who sought shelter other than their own homes had limited options.  Not everyone had family or friends within a reasonable distance, yet out of the storm path.    Hotels in outlying cities were expensive and in many instances, were without vacancy.  Government-designated shelters were not always a comforting idea and many were full.  The basic psychological needs of food, shelter and safety were left unmet.  Thus, the idea of Hurricane Buddy® was formed. We realize the importance of having a plan.

The summers of 2004 and 2005 brought death and destruction to many parts of the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean.  We have had a record number of storms and unfortunately it looks like this pattern will continue for another 20 years. 

Hurricane Buddy’s vision is to be recognized as a security option for individuals and families during life-threatening storm conditions.
